This Month’s Article:Here’s What 'High-Leverage Innovators' Do Differently
Booz Allen Hamilton’s Global Innovation 1000 study, issued in the fall of 2006, provided some startling results. One conclusion was that there was no correlation between research and development (R&D) spending and successful innovation. On the other hand, a group of companies reported above-average results from their innovation processes across a variety of performance measures. These “high-leverage innovators” include Toyota, Apple, Christian Dior, Google, Caterpillar, and many others. They spend less than their competitors on R&D, yet consistently outperform their industry rivals across a broad set of performance measures. These companies also engage in certain innovation practices that may play a role in their outstanding performance. Read the full article here.
